Delicate small deciduouis tree native to West Texas. Derives its name from the resemblence of the foliage to that of the willows. In addition to its ability to withstand arid conditions, it offers recurring flushes of white to lavender maroon Catalpa-like flowers in small panicles. Growth is irregular and requires attention to trunk development during early growth. catalpa prefers moist soil, but will tolerate drier sites. Its characteristic showy flowers, large leaves, and long pods make it easily recognizable.
